The municipality of Es Castell awarded yesterday to all the athletes who had a great season competition in Cala Corb. As they do every year, on the eve of the Sant Jaume festivities, multiple athletes were able to enjoy an afternoon full of prizes and emotions.
Altogether they were 78 winners, 65 individual awards and 13 team awards. Among them, sports such as judowhich received 29 prizes, sports gymnastics, which received 11, and rhythmic gymnastics, with seven.
In collective prizes, the basket and the canoeing they took three awards each. “Apart from recognizing the sporting merit, what we want is to have a sports festival, and make it a meeting point for all the athletes in the municipality,” says Oriol Pagès, one of the top organizers.
Athletes like Carlos Riudavets, with national bronze and champion of the Balearic Islands by clubs in badminton; Inés Iglesias, first classified in judo in the cadet category of less than 63 kg in the insular, Balearic phase and in the Spanish Cup in Barcelona; Marc Tudurí, shortlisted for the Spanish U-19 volleyball team; Selva Sánchez, first classified in the juvenile category of less than 57 kg in the island and Balearic phase in judo and many other athletes were the absolute stars of the evening.
In addition, five members of the Menorcan expedition that traveled to Guernsey during the Island Games: Carlos Riudavets, with badminton, Bernat Ferrando, Gràcia Florit and Marta Ramis in football and Marta Riera in table tennis. At the end of the event, there was a fantastic barbecue, accompanied by music and jubilation.
