The Lakers moved in free agency to reinforce the roster and give LeBron James a new opportunity to add another Larry O’Brien trophy to the Los Angeles team’s showcases.
So far, the purple and gold have added Gabe Vincent, Taurean Prince, Jaxson Hayes and Cam Reddish as free agents. Plus, they’ve retained Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell and Rui Hachimura on franchise-friendly contracts.
For this reason, the Lakers have made the movements official and have announced the numbers that their reinforcements will use for the 2023-24 NBA season.
Gabe Vincent
Gabe Vincent, who left Miami for Los Angeles, will be the new wearer of the number 7. This number was last used by Tony Brown Jr. last year. As a member of the Heat, the point guard wore the number 2. Vincent signed for three seasons with the Lakers and will earn 33 million dollars in that period. The point guard of Nigerian descent started 34 of the 68 regular season games and had career best numbers with 9.4 points, 2.5 assisted baskets and 2.1 rebounds recovered.
Jaxson Hayes
Center Jaxson Hayes will wear #11 in the 2023-24 NBA season. During the four years he played with the New Orleans Pelicans, the Norman, Oklahoma native wore number 10. Hayes has not had consistent playing time since in four years he averaged 7.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game after playing 241 commitments.
Taurean Prince
In three of the four previous teams, Taurean Prince used the number 12 and in Los Angeles he will repeat that number. Both center Mo Bamba and guard Kendrick Nunn wore the number last year for the Lakers. Prince played the past two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves and last year he appeared in 54 games averaging 9.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

Cam Reddish
The last reinforcement of the Lakers was the small-forward Cam Reddish, who will use the number 5; the last to use it was Malik Beasley last year. The former Hawks, Trail Blazers and Knicks player averaged 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 40 games last year.
