In the past season, however, Noah Weißhaupt (an assist in the Bundesliga) made 27 competitive appearances. Although he didn’t score a goal, he was able to qualify for an early contract extension. This was announced by SC Freiburg on Friday afternoon.

“Noah has become an integral part of our team over the past two years,” said SC board member Jochen Saier in the club’s official statement. In it, Saier also explains Weißhaupt’s value beyond direct involvement in goals: “Especially towards the end of the past season, he was able to impress with his playfulness, variability and his technical skills.”

Weißhaupt, 21 years old, has been playing for the sports club from Breisgau since he was eleven, which trained him and made his professional debut in autumn 2021. Since then, the flexible attacker has accumulated 40 competitive games in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Europa League.

Saier calls for “diligence and perseverance”

“The Sport-Club is my club and this is where I want to assert myself in the Bundesliga,” Weisshaupt said: “I feel the appreciation and the trust. I will continue to work on this basis and push myself for even more assignments.” In return, Saier demands of the youngster “to build on these achievements with diligence and perseverance”. In any case, they are happy about “another player in the team who has gone through our complete training levels”.

As usual at SC Freiburg, it was agreed not to disclose the terms of the contract with the current U-21 national player, who was eliminated with Germany after playing minutes in all three group games at the European Championship.
