Relief for LeBron James as Son Bronny Leaves Hospital After Cardiac Arrest

Relief for NBA superstar LeBron James: Son Bronny James, who suffered cardiac arrest during a basketball workout, can leave the hospital.

Good news from the USA: About three days after Bronny James, the son of NBA superstar LeBron James, suffered cardiac arrest during a college training session and was taken to the intensive care unit, the 18-year-old was able to leave the hospital, that was reported Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles officially.

“Mr James was immediately attended to by highly qualified staff and was discharged home where he is now resting,” the hospital said in a statement.

And further: “Thanks to the prompt and effective response of the medical staff at the university, Bronny James was successfully treated for sudden cardiac arrest.”

His father, who is currently under contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, also made his public statement for the first time. On Twitter he thanked the “countless people who send love and prayers to my family. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love,” the athlete said.

Bryce James, LeBron’s younger son, also spoke up. He posted a picture with his brother on his Instagram story and added a heart.

Although Bronny James is now recovering at home, it is completely unclear how the events will affect his further basketball career.

LeBron wants to play in the NBA with his son

LeBron James and son Bronny together on the NBA floor? As early as next year, the dream – or rather: the open secret – of the best points collector in the history of the professional basketball league should become a reality.

Because Bronny is actually considered one of the ten best talents for the 2024 draft – and Lakers superstar LeBron has long emphasized that he plays for any team in order to be able to play alongside his eldest son.

“Although his treatment is ongoing, we hope for continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience and the support of his family and community,” the hospital said.

Bronny, whose full name is LeBron Raymone James Jr., had developed into one of the best US high school basketball players at Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles, even playing on the slips of highly decorated colleges without advance praise. In early May, he then joined the University of South California, the USC Trojans.

After the cardiac arrest became known, countless celebrities came forward and expressed their wishes for recovery, including Magic Johnson and tennis icon Billie Jean King.

Hamlin offers to help

Football pro Damar Hamlin, safety of the Buffalo Bills, also offered his unlimited help. He was there for you, just like you were there for me throughout my process. On Jan. 2, Hamlin himself suffered cardiac arrest while playing with the Cincinnati Bengals. The 25-year-old had to be resuscitated on the field and temporarily placed in an artificial coma in the hospital.

Mega talent Victor Wembanyama there? The Greatest NBA Players in History
This year’s number one pick in the NBA draft, Victor Wembanyama, is considered a huge talent and wants to become one of the greatest in basketball history. He’s already done it physically, because the Frenchman says he’s 2.21 meters tall. The San Antonio Spurs pick has not yet been officially measured by the NBA. “ESPN” wants to have measured the 19-year-old with sneakers at an incredible 2.26 meters. Does that make Wembanyama one of the top 15 greatest NBA pros in history? ran takes a look at the basketball giants. Note: the sizing is partly from the NBA itself, partly from Wikipedia. Due to the conversion to the metric system, there is not always consensus on the size of individual athletes. © 2022 Getty Images

Three and a half months after his collapse, Hamlin had been given the go-ahead for any training activity. “My heart is still in the game. I love the game,” he said at the time and has been working on his comeback ever since.

A previous incident at Bronny’s University also shows that a cardiac arrest does not necessarily lead to the end of a career. Back in July 2022, a Trojans player, Vincent Iwuchukwu, suffered cardiac arrest. But the center returned, making his season debut in January and playing in 14 collegiate games by the end of the season.

Iwuchukwu and Hamlin should be a good omen: for Bronny, LeBron and their NBA career together.
