Ricky Rubio (Spain) before the 2023 World Cup: “It’s the real teams that win”

Ricky Rubio, Spain point guard: “I’m fully motivated. I’ve been working a lot lately, but now I feel great. I can’t wait to start training. In previous years we weren’t the favourites, but we proved that even if we’re not the favourites, we have our chances of winning. This year, things won’t change much, but it’s still too early to talk about expectations. We can’t talk about the other teams, we are just starting this new summer and I hope it will be amazing once again. We’ve seen time and time again that the best players don’t win on their own, but the real teams do. And we are a few steps ahead of the others in terms of collective chemistry. However, that doesn’t mean anything because we have to keep working like we always have. We must be humble and aware of our duties and we know what we have to do. »

Rudy Fernandez, Spain full-back: “Every league is different. We have just started the preparation. We haven’t had contact with the ball on the pitch yet, but we’re looking forward to another World Cup. We’ve just won the Eurobasket, so I’m really looking forward to it and getting off to the best possible start. I said it, unfortunately, I won’t be playing in any other World Cups, that’s for sure, but I have a lot of desire. It is a competition that we approach with great enthusiasm and personally as if it were the first tournament that I played. »
