20 years ago you and the German women became soccer world champions for the first time. The World Cup is currently taking place in Australia and New Zealand. What emotions come up?
When I look back, it always tingles. We worked perfectly as a team, beating favorites USA in the semifinals. The title was a milestone for women’s football in Germany. Along with the joy, there is also some melancholy. I wasn’t there when the players got their medals.
You tore your cruciate ligament in the preliminary round match against Argentina and the tournament was over for you.
