Suspense until the end! One game day before the official end of the regular season in the 1st Bundesliga North, none of the top four teams has secured its position. The Bonn Capitals and the Untouchables Paderborn are fighting for the northern championship. The Hamburg Stealers are also in second place. And the Dohren Wild Farmers could still lose their playoff ticket to the Berlin Flamingos. There are two pairings this weekend. Dohren welcomes Bonn to the double header on Saturday (from 12 noon). On Saturday (5 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.) Berlin and Paderborn will duel. If everything is still not decided after that, Berlin and Dohren will contest the very last meeting of this year’s main round on July 22nd.

A success separates Bonn from the northern title

The Bonn Capitals are one win away from clinching their eighth Northern title in the last nine years. The Rhinelanders could have made everything clear on the last matchday. But Hamburg also had a say and ended up just before the jump in first place. On the 17th day of the game, the Caps want to achieve the success they are still lacking in order to meet Munich-Haar in the quarter-finals.

A victory is enough for Dohren to qualify for the playoffs

For their part, the Dohren Wild Farmers also need a win to finally secure the playoff ticket. Just last week, the Lower Saxony fended off the very last attempt by the Cologne Cardinals to intervene in the postseason. The Berlin Flamingos remain the last competitor in the long-distance duel. If, on the other hand, the Dohreners lose both games against the defending champion, the decision for fourth place in the north may not be made until next weekend.

Berlin is grasping at the last straw

A prerequisite for this, however, would be two simultaneous victories by the Berlin Flamingos against the Untouchables Paderborn in addition to two defeats by the Wild Farmers. What is not impossible seems at least improbable. Although the capital city offered the East Westphalia two hot duels last weekend. Unfortunately, the line-up of the Berliners wasn’t quite according to the rules. The Flamingos sent a foreign player onto the field at the same time as the shortstop and in the catcher position according to baseball regulations.

Paderborn doomed to win

One man’s sorrow is another man’s joy. Because the U’s were ultimately lucky about the Berlin faux pas. Otherwise the six-time champion would have already lost his position to Hamburg. In order not to slip down to third place, the Untouchables must not allow themselves any mistakes. Even with a bankruptcy in the two games, the Stealers would jump to second place and thus compete first in the quarterfinals at home.
