Friendly injury worries after BVB win against Manchester United

Injury worries on Borussia Dortmund’s USA tour are increasing. After the second win in a friendly and a successful debut by Marcel Sabitzer, coach Edin Terzic had to cope with the next loss in Thomas Meunier.
The Belgian was injured shortly after coming on in the 3-2 win over Manchester United in Las Vegas and had to be substituted with a hamstring problem.
National player Nico Schlotterbeck (knee) and junior player Julien Duranville had both previously been injured. The 17-year-old is out for several weeks with a torn muscle fiber. Newcomer Felix Nmecha was also not used for reasons of load control. “Felix has slight muscular problems on the back of his thigh. Of course we would have wished that he had been on the pitch today. But we are very careful,” said Terzic.
Malen scores twice against Manchester
The BVB coach was satisfied with the debut of Sabitzer, who was committed for around 20 million euros. “He was instrumental in us scoring two goals and winning balls in the first half. That’s what we had in mind when we signed Marcel. It’s about seeing that regularly now,” said Tercic.
The winning goal was scored in front of 50,857 spectators in the Allegiant Stadium by international player Youssoufa Moukoko in the 71st minute on a template from Marco Reus. Both offensive players had been substituted shortly before. Reus came on for Donyell Malen, who put BVB in the lead with a double strike (43rd/44th). Diogo Dalot (24′) and Brazilian Antony (52′) scored for Manchester United, which started with ex-Dortmunder Jadon Sancho in the starting XI. Borussia had won the first test in the USA against second division side San Diego Loyal 6-0. Before returning to Germany there is a third game in Chicago against Chelsea.
