Active in “Black Lives Matter”
Thabo Sefolosha is a political person, one who gets involved. The “Black Lives Matter” movement has kept him busy. “Even today, it is not easy to address the issue in the USA.” He himself experienced in New York that skin color still plays a role in police operations. His shin was broken by police when he was arrested outside a club with a teammate. Sefolosha fought back in court and was awarded $4 million in damages by the City of New York. “Bertille and I both have African ancestry. It was clear to us that we would fight racism and take part in demonstrations.” Sefoloshas are also friends with Martin Luther King’s family as one of the daughters went to school with a descendant.
