The 2021 ESPYS Awards: Honoring the Best in Sports

Trophies of the Year – The full list of the ESPYS Awards, which honor the best sportsmen and women of the year.

As every year, the gratin of American sport meets in Los Angeles for the ESPYS Awards, the (distant) equivalent of the Oscars or Grammy Awards, for sports. This year again, the NBA was honored with the trophy of the record of the year for LeBron James, new record holder of points in the NBA, but also the award of “Comeback Player Of The Year” for Jamal Murray.

Nikola Jokic recovers the trophy for best player of the year in the NBA, while it is A’Ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces) who is rewarded for the WNBA. Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul and LeBron James paid tribute to their pal Carmelo Anthony, who announced his retirement from sport.

For voters, the sportsman of the year is Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, and it is the skier Mikaela Shiffrin who is the sportswoman of the year. The trophy for the best performance in a final went to Lionel Messi, world champion with Argentina against France. The former PSG striker is also voted best footballer of the year.

Finally, Lauren and Jrue Holiday received the “Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award” for their social commitment.
