In a fairly cloudy tricolor sky, the Haut-Savoyard will have been the main ray of sunshine. Surprise guest of the first skirmish between Vingegaard and Pogacar in the Pike coast (Basque Country), he emerged in the last kilometer of the stage towards San Sebastian to win under the nose and beard of Wout Van Aert and Tadej Pogacar. The Haut-Savoyard puncher signs the only tricolor victory of the 2023 edition. A fall on Saturday forced him to give up. Cruel, because he would have deserved to see Paris.

David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ): 4
The Finistérien had set himself the goal of climbing on the podium in Paris after finishing fourth last year. The leader of Groupama-FDJ is far from the mark with a rather disappointing 9th place, both in terms of form and substance. Gaudu has never given the impression of taking a shot or going on the offensive, unlike all the riders who precede him in the general classification and who have, at least once, seized their chance. Over three weeks, his assessment is insufficient.
