The Cometz can smile, their D1 Baseball All Star Game was a great success. A look back at the event which brought together the best players in the French championship in Metz.
The Cometz hosted the fourth edition of the D1 Baseball All Star Game this Saturday in Metz. Despite some fears related to the weather, everything went well for the Metz club. The public, who came in large numbers, were able to enjoy the various activities of the day. The high point of this All Star Game, of course, was the gala meeting between the French team and the International All Stars, won 5-3 by Les Bleus. The Home Run Derby, a striking contest between eight of the biggest arms in the championship, was won by Ivan Acuna, Venezuelan player from the Savigny Lions.

This All Star Game was an opportunity to see three Cometz at work in the international team, at home, for their first experience of this type: the Americans Armani Henderson and Shane Priest as well as their coach Pierre Cézard. “The atmosphere was just electric, it was an amazing environment. It gives me chills to have experienced this at home”relishes Armani Henderson. “It was really a great opportunity for the club to do a great event, I’m grateful to have been able to participate”smiles Shane Priest.
Same pleasure for Pierre Cézard, who led the selection of the International All Stars: “It was really a great gala match, even if for the French team the stakes were higher because they are in full preparation (for Euro 2023 in September”. The Messin coach is already looking towards the end of the Cometz season: “We went into play-down mode (ranking matches). We will have to raise our level of play, we have accepted the difficulty of the regular season”.
Hoping that the Metz Cometz can ride the wave of the All Star Game at the end of the season. Next home meeting for Pierre Cézard’s men, Sunday July 30 against Nice.
