Toronto Blue Jays Defeat Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels in 4-1 Victory

The Toronto Blue Jays edged out Shohei Ohtani and his Los Angeles Angels teammates with a 4-1 victory Friday night at Rogers Center.

Ohtani still made sure to be in the highlights of Major League Baseball’s night from his initial appearance in the game. The designated hitter sent Kevin Gausman’s shot 397 feet from the plate, allowing him to record his third long pitch in two games and his 39th this season.

The 29-year-old took to the trails once again in the duel, hitting a fifth-inning single.

The star player had been talked about on Thursday. In the first game of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers, he pitched a full game and then hit two homers in the second game of the day.

The crowd favorites weren’t let down by Ohtani’s curtain-raising home run. Matt Chapman stretched his arms in the second set to tie the game. Receiver Danny Jansen allowed the Jays to take the lead in the third inning clash with a solo slap in between.

Bo Bichette then extended the home side’s lead in the sixth inning by hitting a solid double down the left that allowed Whit Merrifield to score. Merrifield also hit his eighth long ball of the season.

Acquired by the Angels on Thursday, starting pitcher Lucas Giolito would certainly have hoped for a better scenario for his baptism with his new formation. The right-handed gunner allowed three runs and six hits in five and a third innings.

His vis-à-vis, Kevin Gausman, meanwhile had an excellent evening at the office. The 32-year-old amassed a total of nine strikeouts in six full innings of work.

The White Sox surprise the Guardians

Meanwhile, at Guaranteed Rate Field, the Chicago White Sox shut out the Cleveland Guardians 3-0.

Luis Robert Jr. and Jake Burger contributed greatly to their team’s triumph by each scoring a home run.

The Windy City team traded four members of its pitching staff in the past few days. They sent Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez to the Reynaldo Angels in Los Angeles on Thursday. Chicago made another move on Friday when they traded Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
