Toronto Blue Jays Secure Third Consecutive Win After Terrifying Incident with Los Angeles Angels

In a game marked by a horrifying scene, Alejandro Kirk stretched his arms twice and the Toronto Blue Jays once again had the last laugh over the Los Angeles Angels 6-1 on Saturday at Rogers Centre.

The Blue Jays thus signed a third victory in a row.

The game was marked by an ominous scene in the top of the fifth inning when Taylor Ward was hit in the face by a shot from starter Alek Manoah.

Ward was hit by a fastball near the left eye and immediately fell to the ground where he needed help to get up. He was eventually evacuated on a cart. Ward drove in the only point on the streak since the bases were all occupied when the incident occurred.

Manoah was removed from the game after this awful streak. He worked 4.1 innings of work, allowing one earned run on four hits with six strikeouts and three walks.

Trailing by one run, the Blue Jays took the lead thanks to a two-run homer from Santiago Espinal late in the fifth.

Toronto added two runs in the seventh. Kirk first homered, his first of the game, before a Whit Merrifield double added the Toronto lead.

Kirk came back to the charge in the next inning with another two-run homer. He finished the game with three RBIs.

The reliever Génesis Cabrera signed the victory by throwing for two thirds of an inning during which he was perfect. Starter Reid Detmers took the loss.

Detmers gave up two earned runs in 4.2 innings with five strikeouts and two walks.
