The winners of the various races even had the chance to win invitations to the Audencia triathlon which will take place in September in La Baule. In addition to the reward on the triathlon, this day allowed children to discover dozens of Olympic and Paralympic sports.

The different activities were spread over six poles referring to the Olympic Games, such as Barcelona 1992 or Athens 1896 to name but a few.

This event marked the high point of the 2022-2023 season and the launch of registrations for the 2023-2024 period for sports activities. This organization proposed in 180 municipalities of less than 12,000 inhabitants of the department recorded this year 12,000 members.

With 44 animators employed by the department, Loire-Atlantique is today “the only sector in France to offer such an offer to its 7-14 year olds”, says Agathe Desmars. “The offer offered by sports activities is not there to compete with local clubs, but to complement the sports offer of small towns”, adds this educator in the Ancenis sector and pilot of this triathlon.

Day in the Olympic movement

The ASD has existed for 51 years and allows young people to practice five different sports activities over the course of a year. “It is also important to show the involvement of the public service and the community in maintaining a varied sports offer,” adds Louise Pahun, vice-president of the Sports Department and in charge of outdoor activities.

One year before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, actions are multiplying throughout France in anticipation of the event. The city of Saint-Julien-de-Concelles has the Terre de Jeux 2024 label, which attests to the city’s commitment to promote sport in its territory and to take part in the adventure of the Games. In response to this commitment, the official tour of the Olympic flags passed through the Nantes vineyard town for this triathlon. The children were able to see the Olympic flag with the rings, that of the Paralympic Games and the last containing the logo of the Paris 2024 Games.
