HEILOO – By winning the competition pool in North Holland, Vennewater Badminton Heiloo Youth Team 1 secured a spot for the final day in the spring. This was last weekend in Zutphen, where the players won a bronze medal.

The team consisting of the players Ayla de Betué, Ilse Kamberg, Tom Nieuwstad, Casper Roelofs and Hein Zonneveld competed for the real prizes at the Dutch National Championships for competition teams. The first day started with a tough match against BC Alouette from Brabant. Unfortunately, the team suffered a 4-1 loss against this very strong team. The second match was against BC Blue Sky from Bergambacht. That went excellent with a win of 4-1.

Resounding victory

The second day started with a win against Zwolsche BC. It was a resounding 5-0 victory. It was clear that in the fourth and final game the silver and bronze had to be divided. It was a fierce battle against Beca 2000 from Arnhem. The mix in particular was a thriller. But in the end Beca managed to win 2000 and so the silver was for them. Although there was of course a small disappointment at first, pride prevailed in the end. Proud of a cozy and good team, proud of Vennewater, of the support and compassion of the supervisors and supporters.

So the young badminton players returned from Zutphen with the bronze to Heiloo on Sunday evening, where proud family members and friends could congratulate them.
