300 boys, girls and adolescents from the La Ciénega and Los Guandules sectors participated for 15 days in the Nuevo Domingo Savio sports camp under the motto “Sport unites us” organized by the Unit for the Readjustment of Neighborhoods and Environments (URBE) in the new sports facilities of the Nuevo Domingo Savio project, with the aim of promoting love for sport, team spirit and healthy competitiveness in a positive, safe environment And support.
The activity, inaugurated with the presence of the Minister of the Presidency Joel Santos Echavarriafacilitated the opportunity for infants from these two sectors to participate in training and sports activities, with the aim of promoting the development of their physical abilities, at the same time that they participated in training and educational activities, thus motivating the integral growth of its participants.
The content and programming of the camp was designed by the URBE Social Work Team taking into consideration the promotion of fundamental values such as teamwork, respect, honesty, autonomy, love, loyalty, equality, health, discipline, among others. others. Likewise, activities were included to promote in the participants the commitment and awareness about caring for the environment with the planting of plants around the project, together with the Ministry of the Environment.
In the sports block, children and adolescents had the opportunity to participate organized in groups by age in disciplines such as football, basketball, volleyball and vitilla, with the collaboration of sports coaches from both sectors. To carry out these activities we have the collaboration and support Ministry of Sportsas well as the Judo and Athletics Federations, the Dominican Olympic Committee, Civil Defense, 911, the Mayor’s Office of the National District, as well as the Ministry of Sports, who were in charge of providing technical instructions to help infants to know and improve their sports skills”, emphasized Rocío Vidal, general coordinator of URBE.
The camp was held from August 7 to 18, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the new and modern La Ciénaga Sports Center.
