Ajax pays much more than expected

According to Verweij, director of football affairs Sven Mislintat first made an offer of 15 million euros and a maximum of 5 million euros in bonuses, after which Metz made a counter-proposal of 17 million euros, plus 3. That is now being discussed. The potential total amount is the same in both cases, but Metz wants a larger part of the transfer fee to consist of bonuses. Previous reports spoke of a transfer fee of 10 or 15 million euros, so the amount is considerably higher than expected.

An agreement is in the offing and the attacker is said to have already agreed on a multi-year contract in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Sunday reported Football International already that Mikautadze has set his sights on a transfer to Ajax. He is in the interest of several clubs, but would have let his immediate environment know that he wanted to go to Amsterdam. Mikautadze made his breakthrough from Metz’s youth. He was rented out to Seraing in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons. For that club he played a season at the second and then a season at the first level in Belgium.

Mikautadze was employed by Metz for 44 matches, in which he scored 25 times and gave 10 assists. On behalf of Seraing he made 57 appearances, 36 goals and 4 assists. In Amsterdam, he is a cheaper alternative to Atlanta United star Thiago Almada.
