Al-Nassr’s Asian Champions League Qualification in Jeopardy Due to Excessive Non-Asian Players

For the star ensemble around Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané and Marcelo Brozovic, the game went anything but optimal until the final minutes. An early lead through Talisca (11′) was turned around by the guests in the person of Yahya Al-Ghassani (18′, 46′).

The tide turned in the hosts’ favor just before the end of the game, however, when Sultan Al Ghannam equalized for Al-Nassr in the 88th minute, before Talisca scored the 3-2 lead in the fifth minute of added time. Two minutes later, new signing Brozovic scored the goal to make it 4-2 for the Saudi club.

However, with qualification for the Asian Champions League, new problems have arisen for the Ronaldo club, who may soon even have to sack a few players! The reason: Each participant in the Asian Champions League may have a maximum of five players in the squad who were not born in Asia. However, Al-Nassr currently has nine non-Asian players in the roster.
