Chased by two Liverpool defenders, Frans Kratzig was up and away on the left in stoppage time after a long ball from Matthijs de Ligt. 20 meters from the goal, the youngster just started shooting – and after a wild back and forth gave FC Bayern their second win in the third friendly (4:3) at the end of the Asian tour. “I didn’t see so many possibilities there,” Kratzig admitted with a beaming smile: “Either he goes to heaven or to the kink. Luckily he went in this time.” At the moment of the shot, he says, “you don’t think much about it,” it happens “by feeling.”
Immediately after the final whistle, there were logically numerous congratulations, including from both coaches. Thomas Tuchel congratulated him on this goal – and so did Jürgen Klopp. “I think he was surprised that I could shoot like that,” Kratzig replied with a smile when asked what the Liverpool coach had said to him.
“My main task remains the amateurs”
But who is Scratchy? He usually plays in the U23, the amateur team at FCB. There actually as a left-back. Coach Tuchel used him more offensively this time, on the wing. And it paid off. “I’m incredibly happy and fortunate to have had this opportunity to show myself,” said the scorer.
Now, after a successful Asian tour, he says, “I’m concentrating on the things I do with the amateurs. If something happens, something happens. But the amateurs remain my main task.”
After the game, Krätzig and the rest of Bayern Munich went directly to the airport. Shortly after midnight (local time, just after 6 p.m. CEST) the plane takes off for Munich. The entourage is expected back on Thursday morning.
