Peter Bosz is moderately satisfied on Tuesday after PSV’s 2-2 draw in the first leg against Rangers FC in the play-offs of the Champions League. The trainer is critical of Ibrahim Sangaré’s fiddling with the first goal against.
“It’s just a big mistake by Ibrahim. That’s clear,” says Bosz afterwards RTL7. The coach does not think Sangaré’s mistake is the fault of PSV’s philosophy; building up from behind and always looking for the footballing solution.
“I have not yet experienced this in my time at PSV. Of course that is inherent to our way of playing football. But what should you do? Shooting balls forward so that you cannot lose the ball at the back? No, we will not do that It’s just unfortunate that you lose a ball like that.”
Abdallah Sima punished Sangaré’s fumbling just before the break. The PSV midfielder repaired the damage with a striking bang after the break. Via Rabbi Matondo and Luuk de Jong it eventually became 2-2 in Glasgow.
Bosz thinks that PSV dominated the match. “I think we did an excellent job. We let the opponent run. I do think that we didn’t get enough chances in the first half.”

Bosz: ‘We have shown character’
Bosz thinks his players should have switched sides more often to make it difficult for the opponent. “We didn’t do that well at all in the beginning. After that we easily found the free man. But yes, then you have to finish it.”
“We wanted to win here, but unfortunately it became 2-2. The boys have shown character. For the same money you lose here. We just have to finish it next week.”
PSV can secure a place in the group stage of the Champions League in the Philips Stadium next Wednesday. The KNVB has moved the competition match with Go Ahead Eagles from next weekend, so that PSV can prepare for the return against Rangers for a week.
