California Takes Home Little League World Series Championship with Game-Winning Home Run

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — A game-winning Louis Lappe home run in the bottom of the sixth inning allowed California to be crowned the Little League World Series champion on Sunday. Lappe’s long ball gave California a 6-5 win over Curacao.

California showed a lot of tenacity in the game, after seeing a four-point lead disappear.

After his winning home run, Lappe threw his bat and raised his arms in the air, before being warmly greeted by his teammates at the plate to celebrate their victory.

Curaçao tied the game in the fifth inning with a grand slam from Nassir El-Ossais in center field. El-Ossais had also crossed the plate in the third set.

Jaxon Kalish and Lucas Keldorf each drove in two runs in the win.
