MONTERREY, NL, August 4, 2023.- Children from the Social Assistance Center of the DIF Michoacán System won gold, silver and bronze in the National Judo Tournament that took place in Monterrey, Nuevo León, reported the honorary president of the Board, Grisel Tello Pimentel.
In a press release, they reported that in the tournament convened by the Mexican Federation, with the support of the State Judo Association of Nuevo León, AC, and the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of Nuevo León, and which takes place from 3 to On August 6, the minors participated in the 25-kilo and 34-kilo categories for 9-10 years, and in the 31-kilo category for 11-12 years, respectively.
“Since the first months of the year, the children and adolescents of the Social Assistance Center began their judo classes at the hands of the state coach and former coach of the national judo team, Luis Emilio Montes de Oca, who has been inspiring for the minors prepare and perfect their discipline, to such an extent that today three of them are champions and are part of the Michoacán judo team”, highlighted Tello Pimentel.
For his part, the general director of the Michoacán DIF System, Óscar Celis Silva, explained that the Michoacán delegation was made up of 15 athletes, three of them in the custody of the organization; four coaches, and the person in charge of adolescents belonging to the Michoacán DIF System, Sergio García Malfavón.
He explained the work that the honorary president of the Board of the DIF Michoacán System has carried out, since thanks to the management the transfer to the state of Nuevo León was achieved, of the three minors who had their first participation in a national competition, with the support of the members of the Board of Trustees and the Mission de México packing company, in conjunction with the organization.
He added that, as part of the actions that the Michoacán DIF System has undertaken so that the children and adolescents of the “Vivan los Niños” Social Assistance Center know the importance of having a sports culture, they are taught disciplines that will allow them to promote their confidence such as boxing, judo, taekwondo and scouting activities.
