NBA – Dwyane Wade moved the entire Hall Of Fame by bringing his father on stage. At his side, Allen Iverson whom he thanked for having given hope to thousands of disadvantaged young people.
Like every year, there were a lot of emotions and tears at the Hall Of Fame. When Tony Parker thanked his parents or when Pau Gasol paid tribute to Kobe Bryant. But perhaps the most intense moment was when Dwyane Wade brought his father, Dwyane Wade Sr., to the stage.
As the former Heat guard finished his thank-you speech, his dad stood alone amid the basketball legends. An incredibly strong moment, where Wade tells how his father trained him to exceed his limits.
“We had the same dream and we have the same name, Dwyane Tyrone Wade. Knowing that we’ve struggled to get to the Basketball Hall of Fame is God’s will. Dad, I know your knees hurt, but would you like to join me on stage as we take our first steps into basketball heaven? It’s for my father. I love you and thank you. We’re in the Hall Of Fame, mate! »

Another moving passage, when Wade paid tribute to Allen Iverson, whom he had chosen to introduce him to the Hall Of Fame. A choice that had surprised, but Wade was again justified.
“Our heroes aren’t always perfect. On the contrary, they possess a capacity for adaptation which makes them accessible and real. When we talk about Allen Iverson, that’s exactly what we say”
explained the former star player of the Heat. “You brought hope to those who grew up with limited resources. You showed us that success and greatness are accessible even in adversity. Your hardships have made your accomplishments all the more remarkable. AI, you are living proof that redemption and evolution are possible. I have respectfully worn number 3 throughout my college and NBA career to represent the love and respect I have for this man.”
