You have to earn respect. Just like a decent placement at the US Open.

Holger Rune at the US Open 2022
By Jens Huiber from Flushing Meadows
Actually, one would think that the organizers of the US Open would have a certain affinity for Holger Rune. Two years ago, after qualifying against Novak Djokovic, the Dane made an amazing performance, challenging the Serbs – at that time on the way to the calendar Grand Slam, which Daniil Medvedev was only supposed to screw up in the final – really hard for over an hour . And good entertainment for the audience.
After that, Rune steadily improved and is now fourth in the ATP world rankings. And was nevertheless transferred to court 5 and almost a little as a penalty by the game planners for his first-round game against the Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena.

This court is not unattractive for the fans in the grandstands at the front: Anyone who is bored with the match currently in progress can get impressions of two other games to the left and right – those on Court 4 and Court 6 (in the case of Rune, Kaja Juvan playing Elisabetta Cocciaretto on the 4 and Jakub Mensik playing Gregoire Barrere on the 6). In the hierarchy of the stadiums, Court 5 is of course behind Arthur Ashe, Armstrong, the Grandstand and Court 17 (by the way, Casper Ruud, last year’s finalist and number five of the tournament, has to go there). On closer inspection, however, Court 7 and Court 11 would have been blessed with more spectator seats than the place where Holger Rune now has to prove himself.
The 20-year-old was certainly not entirely happy with the appointment. At least he took it with humor when he posted an overview of the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Twitter, asking him to look very closely for Court 5 and then cheer him on there.
But since the right preparation is everything, Rune has already familiarized himself with his entry court this Sunday. And hit a few balls with Marco Cecchinato.
