Coach of Rome, Brescia and Bologna, in the capital he launched Francesco Totti in the first team

Record holder of benches in Serie A, Mazzone began his coaching career at Ascoli, in Serie C, in 1968, leading the Marches up to the top flight. After the adventure, which lasted seven years with a return from 1980 to 1984, the Roman coach leads Bologna, Lecce, Pescara and Cagliari in the following years with ups and downs. From 1993 to 1996 he coached Roma, his favorite team. In the three years in yellow and red he launched Francesco Totti in the first team In 1998, after the negative parentheses of Cagliari and Naples (where he left after 4 days), he restarted from Bologna leading up to the semi-finals of the Uefa Cup and the Italian Cup. Then comes Perugia and above all Brescia in 2000, where he finds Roberto Baggio with whom he forms an unforgettable union, bringing the ‘swallows’ up to the gates of qualifying for the UEFA Cup. We still remember him today after about 20 years the race under the Atalanta curve when he led Brescia at the end of a hard-fought 3-3 draw. The latest experiences of a very long career brought him back to Bologna from 2003 to 2005. Mazzone will end his career in Livorno in that provincial football where it all began almost 40 years earlier. (LaPresse)
