FC Barcelona, following many international companies, establishes itself for financial reasons with its own BV in the Netherlands. It is not about the whole club, but the multimedia department Barça Media.
According to the Spanish newspaper El País, the club does this because it is easier for its affiliate to enter the American stock exchange, in the case of the Nasdaq. Earlier this year, the large Spanish construction company Ferrovial made the same move, which the company came in for a lot of criticism.
Due to the financial problems (the club is struggling with a debt of 1.3 billion euros), Barcelona is looking for financiers everywhere to buy new players, among other things. Commercial affiliates of the club are also being put up for sale.
According to El País, Barça, which confirmed the news, is entering the New York electronic exchange via the Netherlands after a merger with several international companies. That merger should still be finalized in the coming months. In total, Barça Media would be worth around 900 million euros. The company provides audiovisual content of the football club like interviews, photos, documentaries, podcasts etc., NFTs and many other related matters.
