Rotterdam – The European Para Championships (EPC) are almost over. Today is the last day. No fewer than 1,500 athletes from 45 countries took part in the very first edition in Rotterdam in the past two weeks. They competed for the European titles and qualification for the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.

It was the first time that all ten European parasport championships were held in one city. The ten sports during EPC2023 were: Para Archery, Para Badminton, Boccia, Para Cycling, Goalball, Para Judo, Shooting Para Sport, Para Taekwondo, Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Tennis.

Annemarie Stukart and Maarten Mudde visited various sports tournaments during EPC2023 and were surprised that there was so little media attention for such top sport. ‘We even think it’s a bit outrageous that so little attention is paid to these unique top athletes. It detracts from the event and the athletes, while it is so well organized. These athletes deserve more attention.’

Fortunately, they sent a mountain of photos to De Havenloods. From Wheelchair Basketball, Goalball, Para Cycling and Para Archery.
