A former BVB professional has left European club football for the time being. He is drawn to the desert in Qatar.
Dortmund/Paris – Currently some ex-professionals from Borussia Dortmund seem to be in transfer fever. After Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (from Chelsea to Olympique Marseille), Ousmane Dembele (from FC Barcelona to PSG) and Christian Pulisic (from Chelsea to AC Milan) have recently changed clubs, defender Abdou Diallo now has a new challenge found.
Transfer fixed: Ex-BVB professional Abdou Diallo signs in Qatar
As his club Paris Saint-Germain officially announced on Wednesday (16 August), Abdou Diallo is moving to Qatar club Al-Arabi SC. Loud transfermarkt.de the 27-year-old signed a long-term contract there until the summer of 2027.
PSG is said to have received a transfer fee of 15 million euros for the former BVB professional. He had no future with the French. Most recently, like ex-Schalke star Julian Draxler, he even had to train there in a separate ten-person training group.
Transfer from ex-BVB star: Abdou Diallo slowed down in Leipzig with knee problems
Abdou Diallo briefly returned to the Bundesliga last season. Cup winners RB Leipzig had loaned the 23-time Senegalese international for one season.
In the Saxons, however, things did not go particularly well for him because of persistent knee problems. The defender was only used eight times in the German upper house. In the game against Hertha BSC on the 10th matchday he managed to score one goal.
Ex-BVB star Abdou Diallo won eight titles with PSG
In previous seasons, Abdou Diallo was used fairly regularly by Paris. He slipped on the jersey of the capital club a total of 75 times.
During this time, he was able to win eight titles with the club. Abdou Diallo was a two-time French champion (2019/2020 & 2021/2022), two-time French Cup winner (2019/2020 & 2020/2021), one-time French League Cup winner (2019/2020) and three-time French Super Cup winner (2019/2020) with PSG 2020, 2020/2021 & 2022/2023).

Abdou Diallo turned his back on BVB after just one season: transfer plus for Borussia Dortmund
The defensive player also had a successful, albeit very short, spell at BVB. Before the 2018/2019 season came from FSV Mainz 05 for 28 million euros, he played 38 competitive games (1 goal & 1 assist) for the Westphalia.
With Borussia Dortmund he just missed the German championship. Surprisingly, Abdou Diallo then switched from BVB to Paris after just one season for around 32 million euros.
