French Players Gear Up for Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major 2023: Registration and Wild Card Allocation

No less than 12 French women and 14 French people have registered for the Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major 2023, which begins on September 4 at Roland-Garros.

The second edition of the Paris Major is a bit of the event awaited by all the French padel. The tricolor players therefore absolutely want to participate. Unfortunately, there will certainly not be room for everyone, with several pairs ending up on the waiting list. We explain to you.

Only one tricolor assured of the final draw for men

Who says Major says that 48 pairs go directly into the main draw (including 4 wild-cards) for men, and 40 for women (including 2 wild-cards).

In the previas, there are 32 pairs on the men’s side (including 2 wild-cards) and 16 pairs on the women’s side (including one wild-card).

Among the men, we will therefore have at least one tricolor in the final table, Benjamin Tison who forms the pair 30 with the Spaniard Victor Mena. Whatever happens, the pairs Scatena/Gomes (BRE), Moreau/Salandro (ITA) and Leygue/Insa (ESP) are guaranteed to be at least in previas (they are obviously hoping for a wildcard for the final draw) .

The Jérôme Inzerillo/Adrien Maigret and Bastien Blanqué/Dylan Guichard duos, which form pairs 73 and 74, should also be at least in previas (for these two duos not to be able to participate in the tournament, the 4 wild-cards tableau would have to are assigned to pairs behind them and that they do not have a wild-card previa, which obviously seems unlikely).

Behind, the Vives/Seurin (83), De Meyer/Vanbauce (88) and Cancel/Raichman (90) duos are hoping for a wild card, or mass withdrawals!

Among the girls, people on the waiting list

Among the girls, the two new pairs Collombon/Rufo and Amatriain/Godallier are guaranteed to make it into the final table.

The other tricolor pairs registered, as you will see below, are all on the waiting list.

Allocation of wild cards: the same as in Italy?

During the Major in Rome, all wildcards were offered to pairs with at least one Italian or Italian. If the logic is respected at Roland-Garros, then we could for example have six Frenchmen in the main draw for the men (if the wild-cards are given to the best ranked duos comprising Frenchmen, namely Scatena/Gomes, Moreau/ Salandro, Leygue/Insa and Inzerillo/Maigret). With a bit of luck, all the registered French people could enter the tournament for men.

Among the girls, we could also have six tricolors in the final table, if the two wild cards are awarded to French women. We should also have a French pair in previas, which means that at least three tricolor pairs will remain on the diamond. It remains to be seen which ones…

Stay tuned, we should know soon which pairs are the lucky ones!
