Girona shows that it is still the black beast of Seville (1-2)

He Girona confirmed this Saturday that he has taken the measure to the Sevillaafter beating him 1-2with which the Catalan team now has four consecutive victories against the Andalusian and, on this occasion, thanks to his efficiency in attack against an opponent with little luck even with the VAR, which annulled a goal in the second half and also a penalty that had originally been awarded.

In the first part, a goal from the Venezuelan Yangel Herrera for the visitors and another from the Serbian Nemanja Gudel for the locals left the tie at halftime, but in the second Aleix García saw the door again for Girona, which leaves him with a great start to the season -two wins and a draw-, quite the opposite of Sevilla, who remains the only one in the category that has not yet scored points in the first three days.

José Luis Mendilibar’s team, which began the tournament with two defeats and bad feelings, took to the field eager to amend the situation and also against a rival who arrived at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium with an opposite dynamic -a win and a draw- and that, in the previous course, he took the measure of the Andalusian team, to the point that the Biscayan coach suffered his first defeat as a Sevilla player against the Catalan team (0-2).

Las Palmas and Real Sociedad still haven’t won

It didn’t take long for those of the Madrid coach Míchel Sánchez to breathe in the face of the rival’s pressure, and the first corner kick of the match was for the visitorsin which it was already seen that Girona could create danger.

It was in his second corner, after fifteen minutes, when that set piece game paid off and, in an indecision in the clearance of the Swiss midfielder Djibril Sow, who made his debut as a starter in Sevilla, was perfectly taken advantage of by the Venezuelan Yangel Herrera to shoot Serbian goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic.

The local team tried to recover, with Suso Fernández very active in the face of the lesser presence of the Croatian Iván Rakitic, who had completed three hundred games as a Sevilla player, but in the round trip Girona was very close to getting more income, in a beautiful action by the young Brazilian Savinho Moreira that Dmitrovic now aborted.

This is how the hydration break was reached and after it Sevilla maintained its momentum in search of the tie, although always imprecise in the shot, despite the fact that, already in the extension of the first part and in a play very similar to that of the goal of the people of Girona at the exit of a corner, It was Sergio Nemanja Gudelj who made it 1-1which could have been made 2-1 in the last game of the period, but Suso Fernández hit the crossbar.

In the second half, Sevilla started with the same enthusiasm with which they finished the first, with a great advance pressure to play the longest time on the opponent zonebut the visiting team did not break down either and, as at the start of the game, they took advantage of a poor local clearance, in this case from Rakitic, so that the 1-2 came with a good shot from Aleix García.

Once again the locals had to row against the current and more when Rakitic, shortly after the goal from Gironathe VAR annulled a great goal for a tight offside and when Adriá Pedrosa saw how one of his balls was repelled by the stump of a post.

Already in the final stretch, Savinho, without a doubt the most outstanding of the game, was close to making it 1-3 but the ball hit the post, while later the VAR rectified Gil Manzano, who did not concede a penalty that he pointed out earlier by the hand of David López in the barrier after a free kick from Rakitic, which was the final straw for Mendilibar’s men.
