Gold Medal Victories for Kosovo, the Netherlands, and Belgium at Judo Masters Competition in Hungary

On the second day of the judo masters competition in Hungary, Kosovo, the Netherlands and Belgium, all won a well-deserved gold medal.

In Budapest, Hungary, thousands of spectators flocked to the Papp László Arena to watch their heroes face off on day two of the Judo Masters competition.

Fans eagerly awaited the opening ceremony which included opening speeches from IFJ President, Mr. Marius Vizer, Prime Minister’s Office Minister, Mr. Gergely Gulyás and IFJ Vice-President, Dr László Tóth, who also received 8th Dan from the IJF.

At -63 kg, Laura Fazliu flew over her day, with her impressive judo which led her to a second Masters final.

Once again she faced four-time Masters champion Takaichi of Japan, but this time she dominated the fight and won the gold, keeping the momentum strong for the Kosovo team.

The Minister of the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Mr. Gergely Gulyás, presented the medals.

“I feel very happy, this medal is special. More than others in my collection. It motivates me for future competitions, I’m so happy,” said Fazliu.

At -73kg, former world champion Hashimoto Soichi was in great shape and fought his way to another Masters final. His opponent was Behruzi Khojazoda from Tajikistan.

Hashimoto fought hard with a close score and eventually earned a tactical victory and an impressive fourth Masters gold medal.

IJF special guest Sheikh Dr. Talal AL-Fahad Al-Sabah presented the medals.

In -70 kg, the Dutch Sanne Van Dijke faced the Greek Elisavet Teltsidou. Two big launchers.

In the final, Teltsidou came close to scoring, but the Masters title went to Van Dijke after a tactical penalty.

The CEO and President of the MET Group, Mr. Benjamin Lakatos, presented the medals.

At -81kg, 2021 World Champion Matthias Casse rode through his preliminaries to the final while looking in top form all day

In the final, he scored an early waza-ari to claim his second master title.

IJF Ambassador and IOC Honorary Member HE Schmitt Pal presented the medals.

“Budapest is almost a sports capital, many competitions of many sports also take place here. I usually fight well here, I won my world title here, I won the Masters now, so I would love to come back,” Casse said.
