‘Hugo Boss is ready to replace the name AlphaTauri’

It certainly looks like Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo will drive for the Hugo Boss Formula 1 team next season. Helmut Marko previously hinted that the AlphaTauri name would disappear and according to Formula.hu, Red Bull is negotiating with the German fashion brand.

In 2005 it was announced that Minardi was taken over by Red Bull. The Austrian team had already taken over Jaguar as the main team and Minardi would be known as Toro Rosso from 2006. However, that team was brought under a new name in 2020 called: AlphaTauri. That brand is disappearing from the royal class and so far no new batch has been officially announced.

No stranger to F1

According to the medium, all arrows seem to point to the arrival of Hugo Boss. The brand has a long history within Formula 1. For example, it was a sponsor of McLaren for three decades in the past. From 2015 to 2017 it was Mercedes’ partner, after which it focused on Formula E. This year the fashion brand is a partner of Aston Martin, but that seems to be coming to an end at the end of this season.

Hugo Boss still has a partnership with Aston Martin

The name change would fit in with the trend of Formula 1. The sport is more popular than ever and several major brands have expressed their interest in the royal class. The Hungarian medium has contacted Hugo Boss, but they did not want to say anything about their future. Boss is currently and will continue to be the fashion partner of the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team. We are unable to comment further on the questions asked.

Alternative

However, it may also be the case that Orlen will be the new name of the team. The Polish oil company still shows off the rear wing of the AT04 and the Hungarian medium points to that brand as an alternative to Hugo Boss.
