For the reference period, inflation in Mexico decreased thanks to a 6.67 percent annual drop in the price of energy, which includes gasoline, electricity and LP gas.

Similarly, there was a drop in the cost of food and services such as chayote, eggs, green beans, chicken, oranges, Serrano peppers, and air transportation, among others.

According to the Inegi, these decreases were more noticeable in entities such as Guerrero, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato and Durango.

In previous reports, analysts from Grupo Financiero Ve por Más and Monex warned that items such as air transport or packaged tourist services would decrease in the coming months, due to a seasonal factor due to the holiday period.

However, price pressures would continue to be present in food segments or those that involve the preparation of food outside the home, such as taquerias, fondas, torterías or restaurants.

In this regard, the Inegi detailed that both items registered the highest annual increases during the first half of August, with increases of 8.75 and 6.48 percent, respectively.
