Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
Lionel Messi go crazy together Inter Miami CF defeated FC Dallas in the top 16 of the 2023 Leagues Cup at the Toyota Stadium, Texas, Monday (7/8) morning WIB.
Inter Miami earned a dramatic victory at FC Dallas headquarters. Tata Martino’s team won on penalties after a 4-4 draw in 90 minutes.
Messi looks like he will lose for the first time with Inter Miami. The reason is that the team, whose owner is David Beckham, was behind 2-4 until the 79th minute. But everything changed thanks to Messi’s magic.
A Messi free kick in the 80th minute forced Marco Farfan’s player to score an own goal. La Pulga then rescued Inter Miami from defeat by scoring a 4-4 equalizer with a spectacular free kick in the 85th minute.
Inter Miami then beat FC Dallas 5-3 on penalties to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2023 Leagues Cup.
The duel against FC Dallas was Messi’s best performance with Inter Miami so far. The former Barcelona player was involved in all of Inter Miami’s goals scored against FC Dallas.
Messi scored Inter Miami’s first goal in the sixth minute after receiving Jordi Alba’s cut in the sixth minute. This first goal then went viral on social media because it happened through the same process as Messi’s iconic goal in El Clasico against Real Madrid in April 2017.
Meanwhile, Inter Miami’s second goal, scored by Benjamin Cremaschi in the 65th minute, was created from Messi’s key pass to Alba. Messi’s breakthrough bait allowed Alba to freely create assists for Cremaschi’s goal.
For Messi this is his fourth appearance with Inter Miami. In those four matches, La Pulga always scored goals. Messi now has seven goals and one assist with Inter Miami.
In the quarter-finals of the 2023 Leagues Cup, Inter Miami will face the winner between Houston Dynamo FC vs Charlotte FC this weekend.
