Jiangmen Athletes Shine at the 2023 Guangdong Provincial Youth Championship

The reporter learned from Jiangmen Sports School that from August 3rd to 11th, our city sent a total of 92 athletes to participate in the five events of men’s weightlifting, archery, fencing, women’s basketball and judo. After a fierce battle, a total of 8 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze were won. So far, Jiangmen Sports School has represented Jiangmen in the Provincial Youth Championship and has won 21 golds, 27 silvers and 34 bronzes.

From August 3rd to 9th, the 2023 Guangdong Youth Men’s Weightlifting Championships was held in Shaoguan. 19 athletes from Jiangmen participated in different groups of competitions. In the competition, the teenagers were not afraid of strong opponents and won one victory after another. They won 5 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze. The women’s weightlifting team had won 2 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze. The Jiangmen weightlifting team won 7 gold and 14 silver in this competition. 8 bronze medals won the sixth place in the team.

From August 5th to 11th, the 2023 Guangdong Youth Judo Championships was held in Foshan. After fierce confrontation, 30 athletes from Jiangmen won 3 golds, 1 silver and 5 bronzes. In this competition, Jiangmen athletes Jiang Fangyi and Wang Jixiang fought tenaciously, never gave up, played their due technical and tactical level, and won the gold medal in one fell swoop.

It is understood that the 2023 Guangdong Provincial Youth Championship is a provincial sports event hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Sports Bureau. From April to December this year, it covered 132 youth sports events such as swimming, cycling, and rowing.
