“Unfortunately he’s injured again. The same place as the Champions League final and he won’t be able to play for a while,” Pep Guardiola said after the 3-0 win over Burnley. He had to replace Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne after only 23 minutes.
De Bruyne scored ten goals and provided 31 assists last season as Manchester City won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup. He later stated that he had spent the last two months of the season with hamstring pain, and this time around he suffered an identical injury.
“His rehab went well, but now we’ve lost him again. It’s time to find out what’s going on, talk to the doctors, what’s going on with him. He needs to relax, recover and come back. Kevin felt very good, played very well in the first few minutes, but now unfortunately is injured again,” said Guardiola.
