Launch of Lomé Urban Environment Project’s “Sport-Development” Component Raises Awareness on Waste Management.

The Lomé Urban Environment Project (PEUL) with its component 4: “Sport-Development” was officially launched this Saturday, August 12, 2023 in Lomé. A launch ceremony presided over by officials of the Autonomous District of Grand Lomé in the presence of the representative of the commune Golfe 1.

The objective of this event is to use sport as an essential vehicle for communicating or raising awareness among the population about the problems of waste management within the districts of Greater Lomé, particularly in the 13 Communes.

For ten days, 43 animators will be responsible for carrying out the various activities on two sites (Kotokoli zongo – Bè Kpota GER). The children responding to the calls of the organizers will be equipped with the fundamentals of the four disciplines, namely: badminton, volleyball, rugby and football.

“They are in the initiation phase. They must know, what is the shuttlecock and the racket. There, they will begin to familiarize themselves with the shuttlecock,” underlined Tchatakora Abass, one of the badminton trainers.

Same opinion in the Volleyball camp where children are trained on the basics of this discipline.

“We are teaching the children how to play volleyball, especially techniques like the touch and the overhand. Children aged four must have fun with the ball. We take the opportunity to teach them the basics of volleyball,” explained Klutse Akossiwa Fafali, one of the trainers.

Note that the activities will end on August 23rd.
