The long transfer debate about Mergim Berisha (25) is over. The German international striker will remain in the Bundesliga and join TSG Hoffenheim.

Almost four months. For so long there has been talk that Mergim Berisha (25) wants to leave Bundesliga club FC Augsburg. At the end of the 2023 transfer period, the two-time German international finally got his wish.
Hardly anyone made a secret of the fact that Berisha wanted to leave the Bundesliga and join what he called a “bigger” club in the summer. FCA coach Enrico Maaßen reported in July that the striker wanted to “take the next step” – but this would only be possible for Augsburg if the “economic conditions” were right.
TSG Hoffenheim has now fulfilled this. According to kicker information, the transfer fee is almost 14 million euros without bonuses, but Augsburg has a resale participation. TSG’s interest in the 2021 U-21 European champions only became known on Wednesday. Previously, Berisha, who attracted attention with nine goals and four assists in 23 Bundesliga games last season, had been loosely linked with VfL Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund.

Mergim has proven that he is capable of projecting tremendous goal threat at any time.
Berisha himself describes TSG as an “interesting club with an exciting team, and I would like to play my part in its successful development. The conditions here for performing are simply ideal. A number of players already have the conditions that have been created here used to make a leap in performance.”
Just under a year in Augsburg is enough for Berisha
Berisha leaves FCA after almost a year. On August 31, 2022 he was loaned to FCA by ex-club Fenerbahce, and only a few months ago Augsburg made a firm commitment for four million euros. In the Kraichgau, Berisha receives a contract until 2027.
