The German international goalkeeper gave birth to her third child. Almuth Schult, who is currently without a club, announced before the birth that she wanted to continue her football career after the pregnancy.

National goalkeeper Almuth Schult gave birth to her third child. The 32-year-old gave birth to a healthy boy on Wednesday, she said through the German Football Association. The 2016 Olympic champion had already had twins – a boy and a girl – in April 2020.

Schult was absent from the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where the German team was eliminated after the preliminary round, but said a few months ago on NDR: “I would like to continue my football career after the pregnancy and childbirth. But of course we have to see how well that fits in with the new challenges in family life.” At the 2022 European Championship, she was the substitute keeper behind Merle Frohms.

The 66-time national player played for VfL Wolfsburg from 2013 to 2022 and won numerous titles there. She then moved to Angel City FC in Los Angeles in the USA for six months. Since then she has been without a club and lives again in Wendland, Lower Saxony. Schult has also made a name for herself as an ARD expert, and she is also involved in the “Football can do more” initiative for gender equality in sport.
