Judokas, current and future, will be able to practice from the next sports start in a new dojo located at Fructidor, avenue Hessel, in the Berthe district.
Currently, work is underway on the rotunda of the former Fructidor A4. The creation of the so-called solidarity dojo is financed by the National Sports Agency and the French Judo Federation, with the sponsorship of the car manufacturer Renault.
Cheikh Mansour, Deputy Mayor, broadens the partnership by adding the participation of the municipality, Toulon Habitat Méditerranée, the State, the inhabitants and the artists. Indeed, in order to create an artistic fresco outside the dojo, Claire Offreda, project manager for city policy, called on Foofa, a well-known graffiti artist, helped in his work by Chris and Ichem.
On the sports side, José Cortes, leader of the Judo Jujitsu Club Seynois (JJS), who practices at the Herminier gymnasium in Mar Vivo, will be responsible for developing the Japanese martial art in the new dojo.
Sheikh Mansour clarified that the goal is to make citizens active in the neighborhood. In addition, a self-defense section will be developed for girls. The realization keeps its promises because, already, the first suitors addressed themselves to the municipal center Tisot, thinking that the inscriptions for the judo were done in the cultural center.
