The 37-year-old veteran was having a tough season in 2023, his second with the Bronx Bombers. In 33 games, he maintained a .142 batting average. He drove in 15 runs and scored 13.

Donaldson has also been plagued by a calf injury that deprived him of several games this year.

The man who mainly played at third base during his career started it with the Oakland Athletics in 2010. He then played for the Toronto Blue Jays (2015 to 2018), the Cleveland Indians (2018), Atlanta Braves (2019) and Minnesota Twins (2020 to 2021).

It was with the formation of the Queen City that he had his best campaign, in 2015. He had received the title of most valuable player of the American League that year.
