Nick Kyrgios will not take part in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in Frankfurt.

As the organizers announced on Monday, the 28-year-old Australian will miss the guest appearance of the new UTS in the Main metropolis in September due to injury. A few days ago, Kyrgios canceled his participation in the US Open. The controversial star of the tour will continue to stay away from the court. A replacement for Kyrgios will be announced shortly.

The Ultimate Tennis Showdown will take place in Frankfurt in mid-September as the second of four global events. In addition to Kyrgios, who is certainly one of the major drivers of the new tour, seven other players have been announced for the tournament. Among others, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev and Gael Monfils will serve.

The UTS tour features innovative ideas designed to make the game faster. For example, the game is played in four quarters instead of sets, and there is no second serve. Patrick Mouratoglou laid the foundation for the UTS Tour during the Corona period, when tournaments were held in this format during the lockdown at the Mouratoglou Academy facility. Since this year, the Ultimate tennis Showdown has been represented worldwide as a separate tour.
