Omar Marmoush: Eintracht’s Rising Star Making an Impact on and off the Field

The Egyptian, who arrived on a free transfer from Wolfsburg, delivered the measured cross to a great chance for Kolo Muani, who, however, headed just wide of the goal. In addition to the big names around Götze and Co., he could play a significant role in the Eintracht season.

The tireless struggling Marmoush didn’t give up against Mainz and was rewarded in stoppage time when he pushed a remarkable assist from Christopher Lenz and Eric Dina Ebimbe over the line from close range. The 24-year-old then let his emotions run free, pulled off his jersey and ran towards the jam-packed Eintracht block.

He accepted the yellow card with a smile. Was that the initial spark for the Hessians?

After the draw, the always cheerful Marmoush was even more cheerful in the mixed zone. “Every player wants to show himself to be in the starting XI. I’ll continue to give everything and I want to show the coach that I belong in the starting XI,” said the attacker confidently when asked by SPORT1.

Marmoush is quietly accumulating plus points. It almost goes under because a few days before the deadline day the focus is on Kolo Muani.

In any case, the new coach Dino Toppmöller was impressed by Marmoush: “He was extremely active and kept us alive up front after being sent off. Omar was always dangerous, a constant trouble spot. In the end he rewarded himself with the goal. I’m extremely happy for him.”

Sports director Markus Krösche also praised him: “Omar did a very good job. That wasn’t so easy against these physically strong opponents.”

In any case, Toppmöller will not do without Marmoush. The Egyptian national player played a key role in the first leg of the Conference League playoffs, winning the ball and taking the lead.

In the second leg against Sofia on Thursday, Eintracht need more rays of hope. “There has to be a bang,” Marmoush demanded with a view to the sporting performance and made it clear: “The team has one goal: we want to get into the group phase and we’ll give everything for it.”

The look after these words betrayed the determination of the attacker, who has already settled into the new environment really well in a very short time.
