Orluis Aular will join Team Caja Rural in La Vuelta

After eight years, a Venezuelan cyclist will race in one of the Grand Tours, as is the case of national champion Orluis Aular, who will compete for Team Caja Rural-Seguros RGA in the 78th edition of La Vuelta a España. This will run from August 26 to September 17; beginning its 21-stage journey from Barcelona to Madrid.

The Spanish team, founded in 2010, returns to La Vuelta after a year’s absence and this time it will have six rookies. This includes the Creole cyclist, who last July revalidated his title of national champion, by winning the road and time trials. That was also his second double, as he had also done the same in both modalities last year.

However, Orluis Aular also has the endorsement of being the Central American and Caribbean champion in the past games in San Salvador. This, just two months after suffering a broken clavicle during the Tro Bro Leon in France.

It should be noted that the last Venezuelan to compete in a Grand Tour was Yonathan Monsalve. He finished 30th in the 2015 Giro d’Italia; him after pedaling 90 hours, 12 minutes and 44 seconds.
