The Panamanian Baseball Federation revealed the official list of 20 players that make up the national team that will play the U18 Baseball World Cup Taiwan 2023 organized by the World Baseball & Softball Confederation (WBSC) and which starts on August 31.
The list of 20 players receives the week playing on Tuesday, August 22 at the Claudio Nieto de Monagrillo stadium from 6:00 pm and a last blank on Wednesday, the 23rd in Santiago de Veraguas, at the same time and both against teams of players from the senior category.
“We are going to train the rest of the week, on Friday morning (August 25) the team travels to the capital city, we will be training at night and on Saturday and Sunday we will train in the morning hours, to start on Monday to Taiwan”, said the Technical Manager, Aníbal Reluz.
Panama U18 debuts on September 1 against Venezuela at around 1:00 pm local time in Taipei, Taiwan, being exactly midnight in Panama City.
This is the list that will represent Panama in the U18 World Cup:
Receivers: José Bernal (Coclé) and Alvaro Ríos (Chiriquí).
Inner box: Héctor Rayo (Bocas), Carlos Bethancourth (West), Joey Wood (East), Dimas Oda (Metro), Roderick Lezcano (Coclé) and Julio Casas (Herrera).
Gardeners: Edwin Walden (Bocas), Jeremy Sánchez (West), José González (Colón) and Nelson Guerra (Coclé).
Launchers: Dereck Gómez (Coclé), Miguel Gómez (Oeste), Benjamín González (Metro), Marcos Pimentel (Veraguas), Moises Castillo (Los Santos), Efrain Cubillas (Coclé), Kelvin Contreras (Chiriquí) and Anthony Gantes (Chiriquí).
The team will be led by the experienced Ricardo Medina, supported by Audes De León, Israel Delgado, Andy Hernadez (Pitching Coach) and Willy Serrano as physical trainer.
