After UnipolSai Bologna and San Marino’s passage to the semifinals of the championship, certified with 3 victories in as many games in the series against New Black Panthers Ronchi and Comcor Modena, the other two quarterfinals see Parmaclima detach the pass for the next phase (where it will challenge the Bolognese in the Emilia derby) and Hotsand Macerata draw the balanced series against Big Mat Grosseto.
Parmaclimateafter the skid in race-3, signs the passage of the round with the victory 5-3 against the Neptune 1945 and book a place in the semifinals in the big match against UnipolSai Bologna. On the Cavalli diamond, despite Lazio being the home team (the entire series was played in Parma due to technical problems at the Steno Borghese stadium), the challenge on the mountain is between the young Italian starters Pecci (Neptune) e Mouths (Parmaclima), while in defense the ducals have to do without the shortstop Gonzalez (replaced by Battles) and the hosts of the centre-back Jordanians (in its place Barbona). With the match in great balance, however, the decisive shoulder is inflicted by the Parma players, capable of signing another 3 goals in the seventh that calm the spirits and put an end, at least apparently, on the qualification question: Sambucci earns first base with 4 balls, then the sluggers Poma, Desimoni e Mineo they beat 3 consecutive hits and sign the 5-1. Closing the match is entrusted to the closer Fabianswhich after the excellent work of Mouths (for him victory with 6.0 ip, 0 er) fails to close the second half unscathed: for him 2 points conceded on the homer by Paulawhich brings Lazio closer to a draw but is not enough to bridge the disadvantage, with game-4 ending 5-3 and taking Parmaclima to the Scudetto semi-finals, where they will face UnipolSai Bologna in the heartfelt Emilia derby.

The keys to the Marche mountain are entrusted to Moneyas opposed to its Grosseto counterpart Sireus who immediately collects the point of the home advantage with Garciawho after hitting valid takes advantage of the opportunities afforded to reach third base and score on a sacrifice fly by Carrera Lopez. Grosseto meanwhile tries to capitalize on the few opportunities created in the box, but Money he is skilled at bridling the Tuscans’ bats and closes the shutter when runners arrive at second base threatening a tie. In the fifth inning comes the big-inning of Hotsand, who with 3 runs takes off taking advantage of the bases earned by Splendiani, Garcia e Lucianidriven to home plate by the decisive hits of Pereira e Lopez. Coach Cappuccini is thus forced to replace on the mount, with Age which replaces Sireus to complete the recovery, hoping for an offensive jolt to take back the reins of the match. But Macerata is too determined to snatch the victory and the seventh inning is always managed very well by the home starter, who closes with a splendid complete-game shut-out (7.0 ip, 0 er, 8 strikeouts).
