The Peruvian parabadminton team had a great performance in the “4 Nations Para Badminton International 2023” after obtaining two gold, one silver and two bronze medals. The contest took place in the town of Sheffield in England.
Pilar Jáuregui, Rubí Fernández, Giuliana Poveda and Jaqueline Burgos They were the winners of the medals, and are members of the Athlete Support Program (PAD) and the Rumbo a Santiago 2023 Program of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD).
Jáuregui was the one who got the most medals. The para-athlete born in Puno achieved first place in the mixed doubles modality (WH 1 – WH 2) together with the Italian Yuri Ferrigno, while she won a silver medal in singles (WH 2) and a bronze medal in women’s doubles alongside Jaqueline Burgos (WH 1 – WH 2).
For her part, Fernández won the gold medal in women’s doubles, with Chai Saeyang from Thailand (SH 6) as her partner. While Poveda won bronze in singles (SH 6).
This contest was key for our compatriots to score points on their way to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
