“Rangers” agree on a two-year contract with Lafreniere – Hockey – Sportacentrs.com

The contract with the restricted free agent is concluded for two seasons for a total amount of 4.65 million US dollars (4.3 million euros).

The 21-year-old forward was one of ten remaining restricted free agents in the league. Among the remaining nine free agents, the best-known players are Trevor Ziegras of the Anaheim Ducks and Morgan Frost of the Philadelphia Flyers.

In 2020, Lafreniere was drafted with the first overall number and so far has only played in the NHL for the “Rangers”. Last season, the forward scored 39 (16+23) points in 81 regular season championship matches, reaching his performance record. Meanwhile, the Canadian remained scoreless in seven Stanley Cup games.

In total, during his career, Lafreniere has played 216 games in the NHL regular season and collected 91 (47+44) points, while the striker has 27 matches and nine (2+7) points in the Stanley Cup.

In 2020, Lafreniere together with the Canadian team won the World Junior Championship, but he himself was recognized as the tournament’s MVP and best forward.
