The summer successes continue for the Byzantine Archers of Ravenna who stand out both at a regional and national level. Last weekend in San Giovanni in Persiceto the only two competitions scheduled for August for our region took place, organized by the Archers of King Bertoldo. The games kicked off on Saturday 5 August with the second stage of the “9th Quadrangular Emilia Romagna Andrea Bertolino”, dedicated exclusively to the youth categories on the distance of 36 arrows, where the Byzantines won the medal with Mirko Sebastian Grassi who conquered the third place in the junior men’s category with a score of 262 and lost the semifinal for 1-7, then won the absolute bronze medal. Medal also for Matelda Miolo who wins a gold medal in the junior women’s bare archery with a score of 204.
The senior and master categories are no less, which on Sunday 6 August at the “12th Targa Re Bertoldo”, all go for medals. Double win for the bare archery masters with a first and a third place: gold medal for Simone Pizzi with a score of 597 (299+298) and bronze medal for Massimo Venturi with a score of 540 (266+276) . Again for bare archery, female master, silver medal for Angela Padovani with a score of 508 (232+276). Riccardo Venturi gold in the men’s junior compound with a score of 656 (319+337) and podium also for Marcello Tozzola who largely wins the gold medal in the men’s Olympic masters with a score of 642 (328+314).
For Tozzola an excellent performance also at the Campionati Italiani Campagna, which was held in Castel di Sangro (AQ) from 21 to 23 July, where he was the only qualified Byzantine. After a very hard-fought first phase, which saw him in the lead for 22 pitches out of 24, he finally gave up, winning the silver medal in the Olympic men’s master class for the third consecutive year. For the Byzantine the second phase was also excellent for the conquest of the absolute title which Tozzola concluded with a prestigious 5th place behind athletes of national caliber and the only master in the very first places. Added to these good results are the qualifications that the Ravenna archers have obtained for the next Italian Targa Championships which will be held from 24 to 27 August in Serravezza (LU), which will see the AN division, hitherto excluded, competing for the first time.
And the Byzantines, thanks to the good results obtained in the inter-regional competitions, qualify 5 athletes in the individual AN division, 2 AN teams (both senior and master), 1 athlete in the Olympic division and 1 athlete in the compound division. Qualified: Marcello Tozzola OL+AN men’s master, Simone Pizzi AN men’s master, Michele Baroncini (in his first participation in an Italian championship) AN senior men, Angela Padovani AN women’s master, Matelda Miolo AN junior women, Riccardo Venturi CO junior men .
